Melisa has scoliosis of the spine, a congenital defect that over time would have left her immobile and with her organs being seriously pushed together and limiting their function.
She had her first surgery to stabilize this several years ago through ADLN, Doctors Escamilla and Rajas fussed together the vertebra in the curves of the "S" her spine was bending into, this was a very successful first step and it indeed has stopped the spine from further deformation.
To get Melissa the special help she needed for the next phase, ADLN sent her and her family to Shriner's Hospital in Mexico City. They have now made three trips and Melissa has been accepted for her next surgery. In this more extensive operation, two titanium rods will be placed next to her spine and held by weaving through the vertebra to straighten the spine and let Melissa grow into adulthood with no major problems. This treatment has changed Melissa's life, she is full of love and hope… she always has hugs and kisses for us all at the ADLN Office.
